Fake AI video about the “sale of Western weapons abroad”
The Center has recorded the continuation of a disinformation campaign alleging that Ukraine is “selling Western-supplied weapons on the black market.”
▫️ russian propaganda outlets are circulating a video in which an alleged Ukrainian servicemember claims that weapons provided by international partners “never reach the front line” and are instead being sold abroad on a massive scale, including to unstable regions around the world.
This video is entirely fabricated. Its analysis clearly indicates the use of artificial intelligence technologies. No evidence is presented in the video, while the speech of the generated character consists exclusively of standard kremlin propaganda narratives.
The purpose of such disinformation is to demoralize Ukrainian society and discredit Ukraine’s defense cooperation with its international partners.
▫️ In reality, Ukraine has implemented a multi-level monitoring and control system for the use of Western-supplied weapons, including mechanisms involving international partners. Throughout the full-scale war, no cases of these weapons being diverted or sold on the black market have been identified.
russian propaganda systematically uses AI-generated videos featuring fake “Ukrainian servicemembers” as part of its information operations. The Center has repeatedly identified similar fake videos involving alleged military personnel.
