A network of russian informants spying on Ukrainians has been exposed in Latvia
Latvian media have reported the exposure of an extensive network of informants linked to russian special services that had been operating in the country for a long time. Its members collected data on Ukrainians and supporters of Ukraine, tracked the movement of military equipment, and attempted to infiltrate drone manufacturing enterprises.
▫️ According to the investigation, the network used pro-russian Telegram communities, in particular “Antifascists of the Baltics”, to coordinate its activities. Such actions pose a direct threat to the security of Ukrainians abroad as well as to the Baltic states as a whole.
▫️ The identified informants are only part of broader agent networks that the russian federation uses for hybrid operations in Europe. The Kremlin systematically engages socially vulnerable or ideologically influenced individuals for espionage, sabotage, and the destabilization of the situation in Ukraine’s partner states.
This once again confirms that russia is waging war against Ukrainians and their allies not only on the battlefield, but also through covert networks of influence, intelligence, and intimidation abroad.
