Journalists of the French TV channel TF1 spread materials that discredit Ukraine in the international arena

Center for Countering Disinformation has revealed that a number of manipulative materials aimed at discrediting Ukraine in the international arena are being spread in the information space.

On February 8, Liseron Boudoul, a journalist of the French TV channel TF1, and cameraman Gilles Parrot published a series of original materials on TF1. This is a private French national television channel. The channel’s market share is 24%, making it the largest in Europe in terms of audience.

The prepared materials were filmed on the territory of the TOT of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, including an interview with its “leader” Denis Pushilin, the main narrative of which was to justify in the eyes of the French-speaking audience the aggressive actions of the russian federation to build up its military potential in the territories adjacent to Ukraine.

The materials consistently discredit Ukraine’s policy towards the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, in particular in terms of using diplomatic means to return to Ukraine. At the same time, the journalists draw attention to numerous attempts to implement the so-called “force scenario”. This is presented to the audience as Ukraine’s attempts to start and continue to wage a large-scale war on the TOT of Donetsk and Luhansk regions with the aim of their “forced annexation”.

At the same time, as it becomes clear from the published video materials, Lizeron Boudoul and Gilles Parrot entered the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk region in violation of the procedure provided for by the current legislation of Ukraine.

Also, the first part of the footage clearly shows that the journalist and cameraman entered from russia – through the Izvaryne checkpoint, which is located on the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk region, but the authors of the video indicated that this is the territory of russia.

Center for Countering Disinformation sent a request to the Security Service of Ukraine regarding the fact of illegal border crossing of the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and the publication of these materials as a possible element of hybrid aggression against Ukraine, to take measures within its competence, as well as to further take into account the information provided in their work.
