Russia still receives Western components for weapons production

Russia continues to obtain Western components for weapons production, according to Bloomberg.

Main points of the article:

▫️ Suppliers for the Russian military purchase components from a US chipmaker based in Texas.
▫️ Some Russian distributors have integrated data from the manufacturer’s online store into their sales platforms, wich allows to acquire products through companies outside Russia.
▫️ For instance, a major Russian distributor purchased products worth approximately $6 million from one manufacturer this year.
▫️ Despite manufacturers’ efforts to prevent product supplies to Russia and thorough inspections, a shadow network of intermediaries helps the Russian military-industrial complex in acquiring American components despite sanctions.

Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation and an officer in the Ukrainian Defense Forces, commented on the situation, emphasizing that Western components entering Russia are used to manufacture missiles and intimidate the West:

“This is quite bad because they are used to produce missiles, and then Putin scares Western societies with nuclear-capable missiles containing Western components.”
