russia organizes another propaganda tour for foreign bloggers

The russian authorities have organized another propaganda trip for foreign bloggers, sending them on a week-long rail tour across northern russia.

▫️ Ten influencers from China, Indonesia, Serbia, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan will spend seven days traveling aboard a “hotel on wheels,” visiting arkhangelsk, murmansk, teriberka, petrozavodsk, and vyborg.

▫️ Organizing such tours is costly. Nevertheless, the kremlin deliberately invests in these initiatives because it sees clear practical value in them. Foreign participants are presented with the illusion of a “safe, comfortable, and technologically advanced” country in an effort to secure their sympathy and loyalty.

This initiative is a continuation of the kremlin’s strategy to build networks of influence abroad. Rather than relying solely on overt propaganda, moscow increasingly employs soft power tools to cultivate a pool of loyal foreign content creators. Over time, these bloggers are expected to promote kremlin-friendly narratives to ordinary social media users in their home countries.
