russia is preparing ground for new hybrid attacks against EU and NATO
The head of russia’s foreign intelligence service, sergey naryshkin, claimed there is a “tense situation” on the borders of russia and belarus, accusing the Baltic states and Poland of “militarizing their economies” and implying they are “preparing an attack on russia.”
These statements are part of a large-scale disinformation campaign aimed at intimidating European societies. The kremlin is attempting to portray defensive measures taken by sovereign states as “preparations for aggression,” in order to reduce support for Ukraine and justify its own military presence and hybrid provocations.
▫️ The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrii Kovalenko, noted that “in the near future, russia will increase informational and hybrid provocations against Europe.”
According to him, “this is how the russian federation demonstrates its inability to respond to growing technological threats if countries refuse to end the war. naryshkin convinced putin that now is the opportunity to ‘shake’ the EU and NATO with threats in order to force them to reduce support for Ukraine.” Despite the kremlin’s efforts, this strategy is doomed to fail, he concluded.
