How Kremlin tried to interfere in elections in Argentina
An international journalistic investigation has exposed an extensive network of russian influence in Argentina. The main objective was to discredit presidential candidate Javier Milei during the 2023 election campaign due to his open support for Ukraine and Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
▫️ russian intelligence services, through networks of bot farms and controlled media outlets, spread disinformation claiming that support for Ukraine would “cost Argentine taxpayers dearly.”
▫️ Propaganda efforts also sought to portray Milei’s support for Ukraine as “following orders from Washington,” manipulating the issue of Argentina’s sovereignty.
Argentine President Javier Milei has since confirmed the facts of external information interference.
