Fake about a 250 euro fine for Ukrainian arm wrestlers
Information is spreading online that Ukrainian athletes with disabilities were allegedly fined 250 euros at the European Championship in Budapest for demonstratively leaving the podium during the playing of the russian anthem.
As reported by the regional center “Invasport”, no penalties or sanctions were applied against Ukrainian para-armwrestlers.
This information was actively seized by russian propaganda, attempting to manipulate the situation around Ukrainian para-armwrestlers and ridicule their principled position. In particular, russian resources are massively spreading the thesis that “sport is outside politics”, trying to present this as the only “adequate” model of behavior.
The participation of russian athletes in international competitions is systematically used by the kremlin to legitimize military aggression against Ukraine.
