France steps up efforts to counter russian propaganda
The EU has imposed sanctions on russian propagandist and former head of RT France ksenia fedorova.
The Council of the EU added fedorova to its sanctions list for involvement in russian hybrid operations, including information manipulation.
▫️ After RT was banned from broadcasting in the EU, fedorova continued to promote kremlin narratives in French media concerning the war against Ukraine, Western support for Ukraine, and NATO.
▫️ The Center previously reported on fedorova’s expulsion from France, where her activities were deemed a threat to national security. The CCD also highlighted Europe’s systematic efforts to counter russian agents of influence linked to RT.
The EU sanctions are another important step in countering russia’s network of information influence in Europe. russian propaganda and its disseminators must face a systematic response and be held accountable for their involvement in russia’s hybrid aggression.
