Fake about french assistance to Ukraine’s Territorial Recruitment Centers

The Center has identified the spread of false claims alleging that France will allocate €80 million to train personnel of Ukraine’s Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers (TCRSCs) and equip Ukraine with facial recognition cameras.

▫️ Social media posts spreading this disinformation are accompanied by a video styled to resemble a report by a reputable international media outlet.

In reality, no such report exists on the official platforms of the media outlet whose logo was used to create the fake. The video is fabricated. There have been no official statements or agreements between Ukraine and France regarding funding for such programs or the procurement of facial recognition systems for Ukraine’s TCRSCs.

The primary objective of this disinformation campaign is to undermine Ukrainians’ trust in their Western partners and discredit defense cooperation between Ukraine and France, particularly following the recent visit of the President of Ukraine to Paris, where the creation of the Anti-Ballistic Coalition was announced and important security agreements were reached.

Fabricated reports falsely attributed to major international media outlets are a hallmark of the russian Matryoshka disinformation network, whose fake narratives the Center has repeatedly identified and debunked.
