russia continues to cynically use international platforms to promote kremlin propaganda and justify its own aggressive policies towards its neighbors.
This time, russia and belarus have prepared another “report on the human rights situation in the world,” which has already been presented at the OSCE platform in Vienna and is planned to be presented at the UN headquarters.
Of particular note is the statement by the director of the human rights department of the russian foreign ministry, grigory lukyanov, who accused the Baltic states of preparing for “mass deportations” with the alleged aim of “finally resolving the russian question.” The use of this phrasing by a kremlin official, which is a direct and manipulative reference to the nazi term “final solution of the Jewish question” (the Holocaust), is the height of diplomatic cynicism. A state that is waging an aggressive war, killing Ukrainian civilians, and destroying entire cities, is trying to portray itself as a “victim of genocide.”
The document itself is predictably full of manipulation and blatant lies. And the duo of authors of the report, russia and belarus, is almost comical: two repressive dictatorships have taken on the task of evaluating human rights compliance in European Union countries.
The main goal of this propaganda campaign is to legitimize russia’s aggressive behavior towards the Baltic states through the authority of international institutions.
