kremlin’s fake about France’s nuclear potential
russian propaganda is spreading a fake report, falsely attributed to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), claiming that only 30% of France’s nuclear forces are “fit for use.”
In reality, ISW has not published any materials containing such assessments. There is no mention of “30% readiness” regarding the French nuclear arsenal on ISW’s official website or social media channels. Furthermore, ISW does not conduct technical audits of NATO nuclear forces – this falls outside the Institute’s scope and expertise.
This fake follows a classic kremlin pattern: an invented statement from an authoritative Western institution is used to discredit France, its defense capabilities, and President Emmanuel Macron, while creating an illusion of “NATO weakness.”
The purpose of such disinformation is to undermine trust in European institutions.
The Center has previously reported that russia systematically uses fake reports attributed to Western media and organizations as a tool in information operations against EU countries and Ukraine.
