The kremlin Covers Up Its Own Torture with Fabricated Stories
russian propaganda is once again launching fake “testimonies” alleging the torture of russian prisoners of war in Ukraine. To this end, it is using the so-called “international public tribunal,” created and controlled by the russian federation itself and not recognized by any reputable international institution. Another round of emotional stories without evidence is a standard tool of the kremlin’s information warfare.
moscow traditionally accuses Ukraine of what it systematically does itself. It is russia whose crimes against prisoners of war have been repeatedly documented by the UN, human rights organizations, and journalistic investigations. At the same time, the kremlin fabricates pseudo-testimonies to divert attention from its own torture, executions, and inhumane treatment.
The Center has previously reported that russia uses the issue of prisoners of war as a tool to justify its own war crimes and to discredit Ukraine on the international stage. Claims of “atrocities” without any evidence are yet another attempt to manipulate public opinion with lies.
