russia intensifies campaign to discredit Ukraine before Alaska summit
Ahead of the meeting between US President Donald Trump and putin in Alaska, russian information resources intensified a campaign accusing Ukraine of allegedly violating international humanitarian law.
▫️Propagandists claim that the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly targeted russia’s civilian population, “prepared provocations using Western media,” and “concentrated Ukrainian special forces in certain border areas,” among other accusations.
These manipulations aim to reduce international support for Ukraine, portray it as a terrorist state and aggressor, undermine support for Ukraine, and justify the kremlin’s refusal of any peace initiatives, including a ceasefire.
The Center has previously reported on the intensification of the disinformation campaign aimed at discrediting Ukraine in the information space of the Global South and the West, intended to diminish Ukraine’s role by discrediting its leadership amid the negotiation process.
