ru-propaganda tries to justify the strike on Sumy
Hostile Telegram channels are spreading disinformation claiming that a group of “high-ranking Ukrainian Armed Forces officers” was destroyed in the city center, and that the strike was “the result of Ukrainian air defense operations,” among other falsehoods.
In reality, this is yet another cynical attempt to justify an attack on civilians by alleging the presence of military targets. According to the Sumy Regional Military Administration, the enemy strike was carried out on the center of Sumy using long-range MLRS. It happened in the morning when many civilians were on the streets. This was a deliberate terrorist attack on peaceful people. Currently, three people are confirmed dead and at least 20 injured.
Such disinformation campaigns are a standard tactic of russian propaganda to evade responsibility for war crimes against the civilian population of Ukraine.
