Main statements from Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s press conference
Key statements by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the press conference.
▫️ Ukraine has started negotiations with European leaders on financing the Ukrainian Armed Forces if the United States will not do it.
▫️ Security guarantees from partners do not necessarily mean the presence of their troops on the territory of Ukraine. For example, a security guarantee from the United States could be the provision of sufficient air defense systems to Ukraine for its defense. Discussion of options is ongoing.
▫️ At this stage, Ukraine does not require security guarantees from the Russians. It has not come to that yet. Now we are talking about guarantees from our partners, and Ukraine is ready for a dialogue.
▫️ The population of Ukraine does not support Russia’s concessions. No one in our country believes Putin, we need security guarantees.
▫️ Disinformation about the “4% rating” comes from Russia. Ukraine has evidence that this figure was discussed between the US and Russia.
▫️ The negotiations should raise issues that really concern Ukrainians – how to protect against shelling and the return of prisoners.
▫️ The United States and Ukraine have different figures for the aid provided. The war cost Ukraine 320 billion dollars. 120 of them from our taxpayers, 200 from the US and the EU. These are packages of weapons. The United States has provided us with approximately $67 billion in weapons and $31.5 billion in budgetary aid. But we are not talking about $500 billion.
