Why Shoigu intimidates Russians and Belarusians with NATO invasion

Russian propaganda is actively spreading narratives from an interview with Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, about an alleged threat of attack and nuclear strikes on Russia and Belarus by Western countries.

▫️ Shoigu claims that NATO is “building up military capabilities” near the borders of the Union State, practicing offensive actions, strengthening nuclear arsenal, aggressively promoting the values of “moral decay,” and “provoking and supporting the conflict in Ukraine,” among other accusations.

This Cold War-style rhetoric is a key element of the Kremlin’s propaganda strategy. It aims to justify the war against Ukraine, foster hatred toward the West and democratic values, and instill a constant fear of a Western attack among Russians to promote the militarization of society.

In reality, the only threat to peace in the EU today is Russia, which has waged an aggressive war against Ukraine and consistently threatens nuclear strikes against the EU and the United States.
