War criminals are the new elite of Russia: Yurii Nimchenko
Yurii Nimchenko is a collaborator from Crimea, a participant in Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
Nimchenko was born in the Kirovohrad Region of Ukraine, but lived in Crimea. He served under contract in the Ukrainian army, but in 2014, after the occupation of Crimea by the Russians, he decided to join the Russian army. He served in the 126th Coastal Defence Brigade of the Black Sea fleet of the Russian Federation, as a senior sergeant.
He took part in the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia. In March 2022, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin awarded him the title of «Hero of Russia». According to the Russian authorities, the tank crew under Nimchenko’s command held the crossing near the North Crimean Canal dam in the first days of the full-scale war.
Nimchenko was on the list of confidants of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin as a candidate for the 2024 presidential election in Russia and also participated in the Kremlin’s «Time of Heroes» personnel programme. He is currently a senator of the Federation Council from Crimea and a member of the Defence Committee.
The Russian media recently made fun of Nimchenko for not having a university degree. The journalists’ source noted that the Federation Council mocks the new senator from Crimea, saying that he is «feather-brain», so representatives of the Russian legislature do not want to communicate with him.
