The Illusion of legitimacy: why does russia need «observers» at fake elections
russia’s foreign ministry claims that observers from 55 countries are allegedly ready to come to the illegal state duma elections in September 2026. At the same time, the central election commission of the aggressor state assumes that «foreign observers» will participate in the pseudo-elections in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
Claims about the participation of «international observers» are yet another kremlin propaganda trick to legitimise the farce that russia calls elections.
In reality, no reputable international election-monitoring organisation is taking part in this show. Instead, as was the case with previous «elections» and pseudo-referendums, the kremlin is engaging exclusively foreigners loyal to russia, whose only task is to tell propaganda cameras about the «democratic and transparent nature of the voting».
Any attempts by the occupiers to hold «elections» in the TOT are legally null and void, and their results are illegitimate. Nothing can change the fact that this voting takes place under occupation, effectively at gunpoint, while the so-called «foreign observers» are merely extras in a kremlin production.
