How russia failed to substitute imported televisions

Despite ru-propaganda claims about the success of import substitution, production in russia is declining — even for goods whose competitors have left the domestic market due to sanctions.

▫️Recently, production of the only russian-made television was halted at the “Kvant” plant in voronezh. The reason is the lack of demand for the product — both from the russian public sector and from retail consumers.

Due to low quality and high price, televisions of the russian brand, even with state support for “import substitution,” failed to compete with Chinese and South Korean products. The latter, despite South Korean companies officially leaving the russian market, still enter the country through grey import schemes.

This once again proves that the picture of the world presented to russians by kremlin propaganda is far from the reality — in which the russian economy continues its steady decline.
