Foreigners are losing interest in resettlement programs to russia
Interest in the kremlin’s programs for resettling foreigners to russia continues to decline, despite all propaganda efforts and budget spending.
▫️According to the russian ministry of internal affairs, in the first six months of 2025, only 11.6 thousand people moved to the country under the “voluntary resettlement of compatriots” program — the lowest figure in the past 11 years. For comparison: last year during the same period — 15.4 thousand, and in all of 2024 — only 31.7 thousand, the worst result in 14 years. Initiatives such as “golden visas” and resettlement programs for “seekers of traditional values” from the West also failed.
▫️ The reasons are obvious. First, the war against Ukraine waged by the kremlin has damaged russia’s image worldwide and made it dangerous to live there. Second, new citizens face strict military registration requirements and the risk of mobilization.
Even with a generously funded propaganda campaign to create an attractive image of the “russian world,” fewer and fewer people worldwide are willing to share its “values.”
