The cynicism is striking: russian propagandists exploit Donbas ruins
Propagandist alexander malkevich released a report about occupied Toshkivka in Luhansk region. Set to pompous music, he shows nothing but ruins and people living in these inhumane conditions.
▫️Before russia’s full-scale invasion, over 2,000 people lived in Toshkivka. Today, barely a hundred remain. The village has no electricity, gas, hospitals, pharmacies, or stores. There used to be a mine providing jobs, but now only ruins remain. The village has been under occupation since 2022, yet the much-publicized russian “reconstruction” has never started.
▫️In the video, the propagandist repeatedly claims that Ukrainian forces allegedly destroyed the village. This is a typical russian lie, meant to absolve themselves of responsibility for their own crimes.
▫️malkevich also boasts that once a month, russian “volunteers” visit Toshkivka to deliver essential items—food, hygiene products, clothing—which are presented as “great happiness.” But he forgets the main point: before russia’s arrival, the local people did not need these handouts. They had jobs, homes, and a normal life.
The video is striking in its cynicism. First, the russians destroyed the village, and now they are self-promoting their visits there.
