russian propaganda is spreading fake photos allegedly showing a ban on photographing empty shelves in Ukrainian stores.
▫️ Photos allegedly taken in Ukrainian supermarkets are circulating online, showing notices urging customers not to photograph empty shelves, warnings against taking photos, or even threats of a UAH 3,000 fine for doing so.
In reality, these images are fake. They were generated using artificial intelligence, as confirmed by checks with specialized content-analysis services. The original source of the images was russian propaganda Telegram channels.
The enemy launched this disinformation campaign amid temporary difficulties with food supplies to stores caused by russian strikes on warehouses and logistics centers. The goal is to demoralize Ukrainians and fuel fears about food security.
As part of the same campaign, russian propaganda previously circulated a fake first page of a Polish newspaper with fabricated claims about an alleged “hungry autumn and winter” in Ukraine.
