Whitewashing crimes: russia releases a new propaganda series
The occupation administration in Donetsk has grandly presented a new russian propaganda series titled «Marik».
A special screening was organised for local collaborators and officials, with the personal participation of the leader of the so-called «dpr», denis pushilin, and the film crew led by the director.
According to the plot, the main character, codenamed «Marik», returns from the front to civilian life and starts working as a paediatric emergency doctor. The title deliberately plays on the shortened name of Mariupol, which was occupied by russia, while simultaneously portraying a russian serviceman as a «saviour» who helps children. The propaganda deliberately shifts the focus away from the massive bombing of Mariupol, which killed thousands of civilians, to the «humane everyday life» of a russian war veteran.
The main purpose of this production is to romanticise participants in the war against Ukraine and whitewash russia’s war crimes. Such films are not created for the sake of art — they are purely propaganda tools designed to embed russia’s false version of events in the public consciousness.
