Fake news about Ukrainian officers detained for poaching
russian propaganda continues to generate fake stories aimed at discrediting Ukrainian servicemen.
This time, pro-kremlin Telegram channels are spreading a story about two alleged officers from the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade who were supposedly detained for poaching in the Sumy region. To illustrate their posts, propagandists are using a screenshot of a real headline from a Ukrainian media outlet.
In reality, the original publication contains no mention whatsoever of any military personnel being involved in the incident. kremlin disinformation operatives simply fabricated this detail to create a false narrative about “criminal behavior among the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”
russian propaganda routinely uses this information tactic in an attempt to smear Ukrainian soldiers.
The enemy’s goal is to sow discord between civilians and the military and to undermine trust in Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
We urge everyone to critically assess information online — especially when it originates from russian sources — and not to fall for enemy manipulation!
