North Korea’s propaganda: Kim Myong Chol
The CCD continues its series of reports on propaganda in North Korea. Another prominent propagandist in the country is Kim Myong Chol, known as a North Korean analyst of international affairs with a reputation as an unofficial representative of the DPRK in the international arena.
His propaganda articles reflect North Korea’s official position, mainly criticizing US policy and its “interference” in global conflicts. In this context, Kim Myong Chol also comments on the russian-Ukrainian war.
In particular, he promotes the following narratives:
◽️ “Ukraine is a US tool in the conflict with russia”;
◽️ “The West is crossing russia’s ‘red lines’ by providing Ukraine with weapons”;
◽️ “The war in Ukraine will lead to a global conflict and the collapse of the United States”;
◽️ “russia is a powerful country capable of repelling the aggression of the West”.
❗️In this way, the propagandist justifies russia’s aggression against Ukraine, and by consistently emphasizing the “ongoing threat” from the United States, he justifies the militarization and threatening actions of the DPRK.
