Why Russia did not defeat Nazism and lies about Victory Day

Today, the entire civilized world celebrates Victory Day over nazism and honors the memory of those who fell in World War II.

▫️ Ukraine also honors the memory of this day, as the contribution of Ukrainians to the victory of the Anti-Hitler Coalition was one of the largest among all the nations of the former ussr. About 7 million Ukrainians fought alongside the Allies and participated in the most significant battles of World War II, including the storming of Berlin as part of the 1st Ukrainian Front. Approximately 8 million Ukrainians — military and civilians — were lost by our country during those years.

▫️ The main conclusion from World War II for the entire world was: “Never again.” However, the criminal russian regime led by putin is repeating Hitler’s script. It has unleashed an aggressive war of conquest against Ukraine, spreading propaganda of hatred, trying to destroy international law and the principles established after World War II that the civilized world is built upon.

▫️ Cynically and audaciously, kremlin is attempting to ideologically cover up its criminal policy with the legacy of Victory in the so-called “great patriotic war,” making it the primary tool for propaganda of hatred and justifying its own crimes against humanity.

▫️ Today, russian propaganda is encroaching on the exclusive right to claim victory in World War II. putin asserts that it was pussia that won, disregarding and belittling the contribution of other nations of the former ussr and the Allies of the Anti-Hitler Coalition. russian propaganda claims that the help from the Allies played almost no role in the victory over Germany, although in reality, the supplies of necessary equipment and materials from the Allies far exceeded soviet production in some areas. For example, under the Lend-Lease program, the ussr received over 14,000 aircraft, more than 7,000 tanks, 400,000 vehicles, and more than 2.5 million tons of petroleum products. In some categories, Lend-Lease deliveries exceeded soviet production by several times. Specifically, the ussr received 2.4 times more locomotives than it produced, 10 times more wagons, and two-thirds of its aviation fuel.

Without the help of the Allies, the ussr would not have been able to defeat Germany, as it lacked sufficient equipment, fuel, resources, medicines, and even food. But today, monopolizing the memory of Victory, the kremlin speculates on it to justify its own aggression and, through the threat of nuclear apocalypse, tries to force the world to recognize putin’s right to act based on the “law of power.”

History of World War II clearly shows—”appeasement of the aggressor” and tolerating war crimes only lead to the expansion of war. Sustainable peace is possible only if the aggressor is punished and justice is restored.
