russia’s children’s ombudswoman keeps lying about the abduction of Ukrainian children

maria lvova-belova, the so-called commissioner for children’s rights under putin, has accused Ukraine and Western media of “spreading fakes” about russia’s deportation of Ukrainian children from the occupied territories. She calls the forced transfer of children an “evacuation” and insists it is an “act of care,” not a crime.

In this way, the kremlin is trying to distort reality and justify the abduction of Ukrainian children — actions that the International Criminal Court has already recognized as a war crime.

The cynicism lies in the fact that lvova-belova herself recently admitted how she personally “re-educated” a boy abducted from Mariupol. She publicly said that the teenager initially hated russia and sang Ukrainian songs, but after living with her family, he “changed his mindset.” This case became one of the grounds for the arrest warrant issued for her by the Hague Tribunal in 2023.

kremlin propaganda seeks to portray the forced transfer of children from occupied territories as “rescue from war.” In reality, it is a systematic attempt to erase their Ukrainian identity — children are placed in russian families, their citizenship and documents are changed, and they are raised in the spirit of the so-called “russian world.”
