russian mfa is once again pretending to be ready for peace
Statements by russian foreign minister sergey lavrov at the minsk international conference on eurasian security became yet another attempt to simulate russia’s “readiness for peace talks” while simultaneously engaging in nuclear blackmail against the West.
▫️In particular, lavrov claimed that “moscow hopes Trump still seeks a settlement in Ukraine,” and that russia allegedly “has no intention, and never had any, of attacking NATO or EU countries.”
▫️At the same time, he once again accused the EU and NATO of allegedly trying “by all means to persuade the U.S. to abandon the idea of a settlement in Ukraine,” of “preparing for a new war” with the so-called “Union State of russia and belarus,” and declared the “lack of prospects for dialogue with NATO and EU elites.”
▫️In addition, lavrov delivered yet another round of nuclear threats to the West, mentioning the “Burevestnik” missile.
These statements confirm that the kremlin’s tactics remain unchanged — pretending to seek peace in order to deceive the U.S. President and buy time without making any real steps toward peace. Moreover, by manipulatively contrasting U.S. and EU positions, the kremlin seeks to provoke tensions among NATO allies.
