Hacker structures of russian intelligence continue hybrid warfare against Europe by targeting routers.
▫️ The United Kingdom’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) reports activity by the russian hacker group APT28, a unit of the russian gru. The hackers compromise popular routers, alter DNS settings, enabling them to intercept passwords, digital keys, and redirect users to fraudulent websites.
▫️ The attacks are widespread: they initially target a large audience, then focus on individuals whose data is valuable for intelligence purposes — employees of government, logistics, and defense organizations. The objectives of these operations are to obtain classified information, conduct espionage, and destabilize critical systems.
▫️ APT28 has previously been linked to cyberattacks on the German Bundestag, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), and logistics companies. Protection against such attacks includes updating routers, using strong passwords, and enabling two-factor authentication.
