Occupiers lie about Ukraine’s intention to cause “environmental disaster”
Yevhen Balytsky, a representative of the occupation administration in the Zaporizhzhia region, has accused the Ukrainian Defense Forces of attempting to “cause an environmental disaster in the Sea of Azov.” According to Balytsky, the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly carried out a “targeted missile attack on oil storage tanks” in the port of Berdyansk.
▫️ However, Balytsky provided no evidence to support his claim that the oil tanks were the intended target. Notably, the strike reportedly caused no casualties or significant damage, and according to the occupiers, “the attack did not affect the port’s operations”.
These baseless accusations are a diversion tactic by Russia to shift attention away from the real environmental disaster happening along the coast of occupied Crimea, where fuel oil pollution from sunken Russian tankers is wreaking havoc. The responsibility for this disaster, along with other environmental damage in Ukraine, rests entirely with Russia.
