Moldova accuses Russia of lying about situation in Transnistria
The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian Embassy’s chargé d’affaires, demanding an immediate end to the spread of disinformation about the energy crisis in the unrecognized region of Transnistria. The Russian Embassy had accused Moldova of “deliberately ignoring issues in its relations with Gazprom,” claiming this was the main cause of the crisis.
Chisinau firmly asserts that the energy crisis in Transnistria is entirely Russia’s and Gazprom’s responsibility, as they violated contractual obligations by cutting off gas supplies.
Russia’s use of diplomatic missions to spread disinformation is yet another tactic in its information warfare against Moldova.
Previously, the Center reported that Russia systematically conducts information attacks on Ukraine’s neighboring state to destabilize the region.
