Kremlin’s information saboteurs in the West: Aleksandr Khabarov
Aleksandr Khabarov is a Russian propagandist and correspondent for the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK), working in the UK and promoting Kremlin-friendly narratives.
Khabarov started his journalistic career in the 1990s, joined the propaganda channel “Russia” in 2002, and has been stationed in London as a correspondent since 2009.
In his reports, he portrays Britain in a highly negative light, employing manipulative techniques to tarnish its international reputation. He frequently focuses on anti-immigrant protests in Britain, stoking xenophobia among his Russian audience. Meanwhile, British authorities’ attempts to address such issues are framed as attacks on democracy. Khabarov even produced a report titled “In Britain, they now imprison for words,” seemingly ignoring the realities of “Russian democracy,” where individuals risk imprisonment simply for mentioning the word “war.”
Regarding Scottish independence, Khabarov amplifies discussions about the potential disintegration of the UK. He also exaggerates political divisions within British parties, painting a picture of chaos in British politics. Additionally, he often targets British politicians, especially regarding their support for Ukraine, falsely claiming that the British public opposes aid to Kyiv.
