Key Statements of Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the Briefing in Washington

Key messages of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the media briefing within the framework of his visit to the United States.

▫️During the negotiations, the entire “Coalition of the Willing,” comprising 30 countries, was in communication. We held several connection sessions. All parties stood on the same side, with a shared vision of the next steps.

▫️During the meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, we discussed security guarantees — this is the key issue, the starting point for ending the war.

▫️The United States sends a clear signal that it will be among the countries that will provide assistance, coordinate efforts, and participate in the security guarantees for Ukraine. This is a significant step.

▫️The U.S. President agrees that the issue of prisoner exchange and the return of children is complex, but he will assist in achieving an “all for all” exchange — not only of military personnel but also of civilians.

▫️The U.S. President supported a trilateral meeting at the level of the leaders of Ukraine, the United States, and russia. The United States proposes to hold it as soon as possible. However, this requires the consent of all parties.

▫️Following the meeting, the U.S. President contacted the russian side, and they discussed possible diplomatic steps. russia proposed first holding a bilateral meeting in the Ukraine–russia format, followed by a trilateral one.

▫️Ukraine remains ready for any format at the level of heads of state, as only at this level can the most complex and sensitive issues be resolved.

▫️If one or another party fails to demonstrate the willingness to meet, we will request the United States to act accordingly. Such action would mean exerting U.S. pressure.

▫️If Ukraine begins setting conditions for the meeting — which would undoubtedly be just, such as a ceasefire — then the russians will respond with hundreds of their own conditions.

▫️Security guarantees for Ukraine will be formalized by the partners “on paper” within the next 7–10 days.

▫️Part of the security guarantees will include funding for the production and procurement of weapons for Ukraine. Another part of the guarantees will consist of decisions on which forces will operate to defend Ukraine in the event of renewed aggression in the future.
