How Russia promotes “Russian world” ideas in Europe through education
A pedagogical conference titled “Russian School Abroad in the Context of Modern Challenges” was held in London from January 18 to 20 to promote the Russian language and Russian-language education.
The event was supported by the Russian Embassy in the UK, with organizers including the Russian educational center “Znanie” and the Association of Russian-speaking Cultural and Educational Centers of Great Britain. Representatives from Russian-language schools in several European countries also participated.
The active involvement of state resources in such events highlights how Russia is intentionally using education as a tool to spread its propaganda abroad. Through so-called “soft power,” Moscow is engaging in cultural expansion to grow its influence in Europe.
The Center has previously reported on how Russia exploits cultural initiatives for propaganda purposes in France.
