“rossotrudnichestvo” – a russian state agency tasked with promoting russian interests abroad under the guise of cultural exchange – has announced an internship program in acting. The training will take place in russia.

The program promises to “familiarize participants with russian theater practices.” However, it’s unclear what exactly that means: how to work under international isolation and total censorship, how to stage plays without provoking informers, or how to cancel colleagues who speak out against the war?
russia has long used educational and cultural programs as instruments of “soft power” to spread its influence and propaganda abroad. This strategy also includes russia-organized training programs for foreign journalists and joint film production projects with other countries, previously reported by the Center.
