Fake about “treating Ukrainian Nazis in Poland”
ru-propaganda has revived an old fake about “Ukrainian Nazis” allegedly being treated in Poland.
▫️ russian and pro-russian accounts on social media are massively spreading what appears to be a screenshot of a post by a “Polish citizen” outraged that “Ukrainian Nazis” are supposedly being treated in Poland at taxpayers’ expense. The post features a photo of a man with a Nazi-related tattoo.
In reality, the original message appeared back in 2023 and has long lost relevance — it is being “actively discussed” only by russian propagandists.
The photo first appeared on X (Twitter) with the caption “Ukrainian POW gets medical treatment.” However, there is no evidence that the image was taken in Poland or that the person depicted is even Ukrainian. The picture contains no identifiable details that could verify the man’s identity or location.
Moreover, the content of the alleged “Polish” repost is absurd. Poland does not accept or treat prisoners of war — only wounded Ukrainian soldiers or civilians evacuated officially with the consent of both governments.
The Center has already debunked a similar fake about “privileged treatment for Ukrainian soldiers” in Poland. Both cases are likely part of a single russian disinformation campaign aimed at inciting anti-Ukrainian sentiment and undermining support for Ukraine among Poles and Europeans.
