Fake about the “disappearance of 20,000 Ukrainian children in Europe”
ru-propaganda launches another stage of the russian disinformation campaign aimed at justifying the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children
▫️ Messages are circulating online claiming that the daughter of director Stanley Kubrick allegedly stated that “over 20,000 Ukrainian children have gone missing in Europe.” This narrative is presented as a report from a British news agency.
▫️ In reality, no such report exists, and the “statement by Kubrick’s daughter” is entirely fabricated. The source of the fake is russian Telegram channels.
▫️ Messages about “thousands of Ukrainian children disappearing in Europe” are not confirmed by any official investigations, law enforcement reports from the EU, or international organizations. Documented evidence instead shows that it is the russian federation that illegally deports Ukrainian children from occupied territories, changing their citizenship, documents, and identity.
The purpose of this fake is to provide informational justification for the deportation of Ukrainian children to russia, presenting it as a “rescue.” This is a classic example of using disinformation to cover up a war crime.
The deportation of children from occupied territories is a direct violation of the Geneva Conventions and qualifies as a war crime. It is precisely for these actions that the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for vladimir putin in 2023.
