The Center participated in a roundtable discussion “Freedom of speech or freedom of lies: facts or fakes”
On May 21, 2024, the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine took part in a roundtable discussion “Freedom of speech or freedom of lies: facts or fakes”, organized by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech.
Anayit Khoperiya, Deputy Head of the Center, informed about the Center’s experience in identifying, reporting and responding to information threats, and emphasized the problematic issues of countering disinformation.
Among other things, she emphasized the importance of amending legislation to counteract hostile influence and implementing international experience in the Ukrainian legislative field. In this context, she drew attention to the approaches of the European External Action Service (EEAS) to counteracting the threats of foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI), which includes disinformation, and suggested using the appropriate terminology in Ukraine.
