Anti-Ukrainian sentiment is fueled by anonymous accounts with AI-generated videos
Activity from anonymous accounts continues in the Polish segment of social media, using AI to create videos that discredit Ukrainians and undermine support for Ukraine.
To maximize reach, AI-generated videos containing previously debunked disinformation are being widely circulated. In particular, manipulated content is being spread again, claiming that Poland is allegedly selling fuel to Ukraine at reduced prices, exploiting “overpayments” from Polish drivers. In reality, all wholesale deliveries are made at clear market prices at the European level, with no special privileges.
In addition to economic manipulation, AI-generated content is being used to create false narratives about the supposed “privileged status” and “advantages of being Ukrainian” in Europe. Videos are also being circulated that overlay narratives about a “fabricated war” onto generated or real footage of people relaxing in Ukraine, in an attempt to cast doubt on the reality of russian aggression.
These videos are part of a kremlin strategy to artificially fuel social tensions regarding Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees. By portraying support for Ukraine as a “burden for ordinary Europeans,” the enemy is trying to undermine international solidarity.
