ru-propaganda is again manipulating sociology about support for Ukraine

A survey conducted by Public First for Politico among residents of Germany and France has become the subject of distortion by russian propaganda.

Hostile sources have spread the claim that “almost half of Germans and French people are in favor of reducing aid to Ukraine”, trying to create the impression that Europe is tired of supporting Kyiv.

▫️ At the same time, russian propaganda deliberately omits the key context: according to the same survey, the total share of respondents who support maintaining or increasing financial aid to Ukraine is higher – 49% in Germany and 51% in France. That is, the majority of respondents in these countries do not support the idea of reducing support for Ukraine, which completely debunks the narrative imposed by the kremlin.

The manipulation becomes even more visible when looking at the issue of military aid. According to the survey, 55% of Germans and 57% of French people are in favor of maintaining or increasing military support for Ukraine, while only 39% and 30%, respectively, are in favor of reducing it. Moreover, 63% of respondents in both countries support maintaining or intensifying pressure on russia.

Such distortions are a typical tool of russian information operations. moscow systematically extracts individual figures from statistics, ignoring the overall picture, in order to undermine trust in support for Ukraine among European societies and create the illusion of a split within the EU.
