He also stated that the West is “begging” for a ceasefire without additional conditions, presenting it as the “West’s strategy regarding Ukraine.”
▫️By claiming “covert arms supplies,” moscow is trying to justify the continuation of the war. In this way, russia seeks to create the illusion that the West is merely “fueling the conflict” and cast a negative light on the diplomatic efforts of Western leaders and calls for a ceasefire.
▫️This rhetoric may also be part of russia’s preparation of the information space for new strikes on infrastructure and civilian targets in Ukraine, which russian propaganda will label as “military targets.”
In reality, it is russia that is sabotaging peace initiatives and refusing to take real steps toward de-escalation. By substituting substantive discussions on ending hostilities with information manipulation, moscow once again demonstrates to the world that it is not interested in achieving peace.
