Ship carrying Russian oil has been involved in another accident
A tanker from russia’s shadow fleet has been involved in an accident near the shores of the UAE. The sanctioned vessel, which was transporting russian oil under the flag of another country, collided with another tanker and caught fire.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, incidents involving russian oil tankers and vessels from russia’s shadow fleet have become a regular occurrence. Due to sanctions and restrictions, the russian state is unable to provide proper maintenance for its vessels, which regularly leads to accidents.
▫️These accidents occur both near russian shores and in remote parts of the world. Just this spring, similar incidents happened near the coasts of kamchatka and sakhalin. The most significant was the collision of two tankers in the Kerch Strait in December 2024, which caused a true environmental disaster.
