Why ru-propaganda lies about “atrocities of Ukrainian military” in Selydove
Moscow continues its disinformation campaign, extensively involving diplomats, to spread allegations about supposed crimes committed by the Ukrainian military in Selydove, Donetsk region.
Russian media are actively promoting the report of the so-called international public tribunal on the “crimes of Ukrainian neo-Nazis,” which alleges massacres of civilians in Selydove. This report employs familiar propaganda techniques that the Kremlin has long used to tarnish the image of the Ukrainian military:
▫️ baseless accusations of deliberate attacks on civilians;
▫️ claims of repressions based on language or nationality;
▫️ promotion of the “Ukrainian Nazism” narrative.
The objective of this information operation is to discredit Ukraine in the eyes of the international community.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian law enforcement has documented cases of civilian killings in Selydove carried out by Russian occupiers and is actively investigating these crimes.
