Carlson’s interview with Lavrov: how the Kremlin aims to impose its terms on the U.S. with information
Russian propaganda leverages a lengthy interview between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Tucker Carlson to bargain with the United States.
In the interview, Lavrov attempted to play the role of the “good cop,” emphasizing the Kremlin’s willingness to negotiate and cooperate with the U.S. “for the sake of the universe,” and claiming its reluctance to engage in a global nuclear war.
However, the Russian diplomat also continued his typical rhetoric of intimidation, discussing “red lines,” referencing “Oreshnik,” and suggesting that the Kremlin could deliver a new similar “message.”
This rhetoric from Lavrov is yet another attempt to force negotiations with Washington on the Kremlin’s terms.
