Kremlin’s information saboteurs in the West: Mikhail Antonov
Mikhail Antonov is a Russian propagandist and a correspondent for the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK). He works in Germany, promoting narratives favorable to the Kremlin.
Antonov has nearly 30 years of experience in Russian television, having started his career during his student years. In 2008, he became a correspondent and head of the Berlin office of the Vesti propaganda program. His reports are regularly broadcast on the Russia 1 TV channel.
In his stories, Antonov often presents manipulative data, claiming that Germans are losing confidence in their government and disapprove of its decisions, particularly regarding support for Ukraine. He also attempts to create the illusion of divisions among EU countries on various issues. His work includes efforts to discredit European politicians and statements portraying the EU as “undemocratic.” Furthermore, his reports promote the Kremlin’s narrative of Europe’s supposed dependence on the United States.
This propaganda targets both the domestic Russian audience, shaping their perception of Western countries, and Russians living in Germany, with the aim of destabilizing the situation in that country.
