Iran’s propaganda: Ali Mohammad Naeini
A man who has been influencing public opinion in Iran for over 40 years.
▫️ The Center continues its series on Iranian propaganda and the key individuals shaping it.
One of the most significant figures in Iran’s propaganda system, particularly within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), is Ali Mohammad Naeini.
▫️ For over 40 years, Naeini has played a pivotal role in shaping the IRGC’s “soft war” strategy, aimed at influencing public opinion both domestically and internationally.
His career spans senior roles in the cultural and social sectors of the IRGC and includes authorship of key works on propaganda and psychological operations.
Naeini served as a senior strategist in the IRGC’s propaganda and media departments, chaired the board of Javan newspaper, and was a member of the political councils of Fars News and Tasnim News. His books “Principles of Soft Warfare” and “Propaganda and Psychological Operations” have become foundational texts that define the IRGC’s doctrines.
In 2024, Naeini was appointed as the IRGC’s spokesman and deputy for public affairs, signaling a shift in Iran’s approach to psychological and cognitive warfare.
His role is to coordinate media strategies and propaganda efforts to reinforce the regime’s narratives and undermine its adversaries. This appointment highlights Iran’s increasing focus on controlling the information space in response to internal challenges and external threats.
Nowadays, Naeini actively promotes narratives about Iran’s military readiness and the threats posed by foreign powers, including the United States and Israel, using psychological warfare to bolster the regime’s position.
