After buying up supplies from belarus and sourcing additional shipments from China, russia still failed to cover the existing shortage — and has now started importing potatoes from Mongolia. In May alone, over 4,000 tons of the “second bread” were delivered from there.

Sanctions, inflation, and a reduction in cultivated land have caused potato prices in russia to rise by 173% compared to last year. Economic pressures in russia are growing, and despite propaganda portraying the country as economically sovereign, in reality it cannot even supply its own population with basic food like potatoes.
