Kazakhstan voices opposition to the visit of the ROC head
Around the world, more and more voices are speaking out, directly identifying the russian orthodox church (roc) as a tool for spreading russian influence, propaganda, and militarism.
▫️ For example, Kazakh civil activist Turar Kusainov urged authorities not to allow roc head patriarch kirill into the country to participate in the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Astana. He called the patriarch “political propaganda in a robe,” claiming he blesses the war and justifies the killing of Ukrainians. Kusainov emphasized that staying silent in this situation amounts to being complicit in russia’s crimes.
▫️ This demonstrates that even in countries traditionally considered close to moscow, there is a growing understanding that the russian orthodox church today is not about faith and spirituality, but about ideological expansion and war propaganda.
The events surrounding kirill’s visit further confirm that russia’s influence in Kazakhstan is weakening. Previously, Kazakhstan banned the “immortal regiment” march and restricted the activities of several russian propagandists.
