Occupiers intensify disinformation campaign about “water contamination” in the Kherson region
The so-called “governor of the Kherson region,” volodymyr saldo, falsely claimed in a statement to russian propagandists that Ukrainian authorities are preparing to use chemical and bacteriological weapons to contaminate water in the region.
◽️ Such statements are part of the kremlin’s strategy to discredit the Ukrainian government in the eyes of the local population. Accusation of preparing to use prohibited weapons is a common russian tactic, often used to divert attention from their own actions or as a cover for provocations.
◽️ These claims are also intended to sow panic among the population, with russian propaganda portraying russia as a “savior” to strengthen its influence in the occupied territories.
This isn’t the first time such disinformation has been spread about water pollution in the Kherson region. Previous claims of water contamination leading to an outbreak of an unknown infection have been denied by local authorities.
